Additive transitions signal to the reader that you are adding to an idea and/or your ideas are similar. Here is the list of most of them:

What is the difference between beside and besides:  

Let's study them through examples.

The use of beside:  

Beside is a prepostion. This is the pronunciation: UK /bɪˈsaɪd/ US  /bɪˈsaɪd/

at the side of, nexto to

Examples

  • Tom's parents kept vigil beside his bed for weeks before he died.
  • I keep a flashlight beside my bed.

- to be in no way connected to the subject that is being discussed:
- unconnected, irrelevant
- out of your senses (figurative) 

Examples

  • Let's stick to discussing whether the road should be built at all. The exact cost is beside the point.
  • Whether or not he's married is beside the point.
  • My mother was beside herself with worry when I didn't call.

What is the difference between BESIDE and besides:  

THE USE OF BESIDEs:  

Besides is an adverb, and it is the synonym of the following expressions:

Examples:

also:  It's a nice day for a walk, and besides, I need the exercise. 
as well: I'd like to have a nice car, and a whole lot more besides. 
other than, except: There's no body at home besides me and the cat.   
as well as: Besides money, Raddy also wanted a job.
in addition to: I don't like apples, besides wich, I'm allergic to them.
otherwise, else: I have washed the dishes but nothing else besides.
